Our Trustee Board consists of your three Full-Time SU Officers, up to four Student Trustees, and up to four External Trustees.
 

Ronke Akintan - SU President

Why did you become a Trustee?
I became a Trustee to gain board experience, meet new people, and give something back to the community I care deeply about.

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
I believe the cost-of-living crisis is one of the biggest challenges facing students today, and I’m dedicated to advocating for meaningful support and change.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
I’m passionate about serving students and creating spaces where their voices are heard and respected. 


Katie Costis - Vice President Education

Why did you become a Trustee?
I'm a Trustee as part of my role as a Sabbatical Officer. I've really enjoyed the experience so far and have learned a lot!

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
A big challenge is the rapid growth of Artificial Intelligence, and the additional guidelines and information this is creating on all courses. 

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
I hope to bring positivity and an open mindset to the board. Having been at Worcester University for three years, I am excited to be part of such a fundamental part of it.


Olayemi Ogunleye - Vice President Student Activities

Why did you become a Trustee?
I want to serve Worcester students, and ensure the Students' Union is accessible and impactful for all students.

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
Ensuring students are engaged and activtely participating in everything we do is an ongoing challenge for us as an organisation.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
A student focused perspective, making sure our decisions reflect what student experience and what they need.


Abit Madukkakkuzhy George - Student Trustee

Why did you become a Trustee?
A friend suggested the role to me and I decided to take on the challenge!

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
Students are facing lots of pressures mentally, physically, and financially, shaped by both personal and wider national issues.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
I want to help secure the SU's future and make sure it remains a place where students can thrive.


Liv Otterwell - Student Trustee

Why did you become a Trustee?
To give something back to students at Worcester.

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
The cost-of-living crisis is having a huge impact on so many students right now.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
An insight into the lives of students and making sure what the SU does can benefit them.


Tim Young - Student Trustee

Why did you become a Trustee?
To ensure students get a fair and equal say in what happens within their Students’ Union and to make sure their needs are put first.

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
Cost of living – students are facing the ever-increasing costs of essentials, including accommodation, food, and transport, which can impact their wellbeing and academic success.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
I hope to bring a fresh perspective and a strong understanding of current student needs, particularly around digital access and inclusion.


Harish Tank - Lay Trustee

Why did you become a Trustee?
I currently work in Higher Education and wanted to give something back to students by helping with providing my knowledge and experience 

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
T
he current cost of living crisis and the uncertainty in the economy, which notably effects future prospects.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
I hope to bring a wealth of knowledge to ensure that the SU is running the most effectively and efficiently for its students.


Ian Hamley - Lay Trustee

Why did you become a Trustee?
I wanted to find a way of bringing value into a student-focused organisation.

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
I think students face more financial barriers than ever before and balancing work, family and study commitments is more demanding than when I started university in the 1990s.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
I hope to be a critical supportive friend to the management of the SU and will bring a calm, reasoned and friendly style to help make the SU the best it can be for all of the University’s students.


William Callaway - Lay Trustee

Why did you become a Trustee?
To volunteer some of my time in a governance space and hopefully make a contribution to the student experience at Worcester.

What is the biggest challenge facing Worcester students right now?
Students need an institution that stays relevant and solvent in a post-pandemic 21st century digital world. One that continues to re-invent itself and thrive.

What do you hope to bring to the Trustee Board?
A bit of humour, some experience, a lot of good will, and a willingness to listen and learn.
