The Students’ Union Raise and Give (RAG) has been nominated for Student Fundraising Group of the Year in the National Student Fundraising Awards, run by the National Student Fundraising Association (NaSFA).
RAG fundraising has increased dramatically in the last few years, rising from £8,553 in 2016-17, to £17993 in the following year. And this year RAG has almost doubled that total to £35,858 and counting.
Over 60 student groups and individuals have contributed to the total, raising money for more than 40 different charities. These include our chosen charity of the year, West Mercia Rape and Sexual Abuse Support Centre (WMRSASC), Children in Need, Mind, Movember, and Alzheimer’s Society.
Some of the year’s highlights include more than £1,000 being raised for WMRSASC and Smile for Joel at our first ever Colour Run back in September, Men’s Rugby and Men’s Cricket raising almost £2,000 during Movember, and the return of our Student Race Day in May.
This time last year, RAG was shortlisted for Most Improved Student Fundraising Group at the same awards, coming highly commended. This year’s nomination shows RAG is going from strength to strength, so fingers are crossed ahead of the awards ceremony at the end of July.
