Picture it. It’s Results Night in The Hangar. You’re with your campaign team. Your name is called – you’ve done it. As you walk forward, overcome with a whole load of emotions, the crowd explodes into cheer. You’re the next SU President.
We’ve officially opened nominations for our SU Leadership Elections, which means that you can now stand for election. It’s an opportunity you don’t want to miss. The three roles up for grabs are President, Vice President Education and Vice President Student Activities. Want to champion mental health on campus? Want to make a huge difference to students’ academic experience? How about lead #TeamWorc to Varsity victory? Want to earn £18,000 whilst doing all that?
Does this sound like it could be right up your street? If so, with our help and support, let’s get this ball rolling.
How can I stand?
Nominations for the Leadership Elections 2019 open at 9am on Monday 11th February and close at midday on Thursday 7th March. Visit www.worcsu.com/elections/hub to read about the roles themselves, manifesto writing and more. If you decide it’s for you, head to www.worcsu.com/elections/nominate and simply submit your nomination.
This all sounds a bit much…
Running in an election is a pretty brave thing to do. But don’t worry, there will be people supporting you all the way, with Students’ Union staff members helping you get the most out of your campaign. And even if you don’t win, the experience of running your very own campaign will be something you can carry with you for the rest of your life. You can always book onto one our Candidate Information sessions here https://www.worcsu.com/volunteer/training/ to informally discuss the role, campaigning and manifestos.
So many questions!!!
Never hesitate to get in touch with us or chat with the current Full Time Officers should you want to find out more. We understand that it’s a big decision but we’re here to support you in making it every step of the way.
