What are the SU Leadership Elections?

The Students’ Union is a democratic organisation and that means that every student has a say in how we’re run. Each year, we ask you to elect three Full-Time Officers to represent your views and values, and make sure the student voice is heard at the University.

Any University of Worcester student is able to run in the elections for the positions of:

Students’ Union President – responsible for leading the SU, and championing the rights, welfare, and diversity of all students at Worcester.

Vice President Education – responsible for educational quality and ensuring you have the best possible academic experience.

Vice President Student Activities – responsible for sports, societies, fundraising, and the extra-curricular aspects of your university experience.

Find out more about what Officers roles you can run for

The SU Leadership Elections are about more than choosing your next Officer team. They’re about making things happen, building a positive movement, developing a strong community, and creating a powerful voice that the University will listen to.

So where do you come in?

Lead – if you have what it takes to speak out for students, lead the Worcester community, and create positive change at the University, nominate yourself for one of our three Officer positions and you could be the next SU President, VP Education, or VP Student Activities.

Advocate – running for office might not be the right move for you, but you might know someone who could make a positive difference to the lives of students. Recommend a friend to tell us who you think would do an amazing job as an Officer and we’ll reach out to them to let them know they’ve been recommended.

Support – is someone you know standing in the elections? They can’t go it alone, so join their campaign team and use your skills to help them get elected. There are lots of way you can help including coordinating team members, social media promotion, in-person campaigning, or just providing some moral support.

Engage – there are lots of ways to engage with the elections, even if you’re not running for office or part of a campaign team. Come along to Candidate Question Time and ask the questions that matter most to you, speak to candidates as they’re out and about campaigning, and encourage your friends and classmates to do the same.

Vote – the most important thing you can do is to vote in the elections. The Officers you vote for can have a huge impact at the University, so it’s important that they’re chosen by you represent your interests. The more students who vote, the more power we have to make a positive difference to everyone at Worcester!
