Whether you've been performing for years or have never stepped on a stage before, there's a place for you at Spotlight!
Spotlight is a fun, friendly and inclusive theatre society where everyone is welcome. Whether you're an experienced actor, studying an acting course, completely new to theatre, or more interested in what happens behind the scenes, we'd love to have you join us.
There really is something for everyone. You can get involved in acting, directing, stage management, costumes and props, technical theatre, lighting and much more. You can try something completely new, develop skills you already have, or simply come along and meet people who love theatre.
What do we do?
We put on two shows each academic year, giving members plenty of opportunities to get involved.

First semester – Improv Show
Our first-semester show is an original improv production that we create together as a society. Expect lots of creativity, comedy and probably a few moments that nobody could have planned!
Second semester – Play
In the second semester, we put on a full scripted play. Members can get involved both on and off stage, from performing to directing, backstage, costumes, props, tech and lighting.
And you don't have to be involved in a show to be part of Spotlight!
We also run sober socials and game nights, giving everyone a chance to relax, have fun and get to know other members outside of rehearsals.
Why join Spotlight?
Never acted before? That's absolutely fine!
Already have years of theatre experience? We'd love to have you!
Prefer working backstage rather than performing? There's a place for you too!
Not sure what you want to do yet? Come along and try things out!
At Spotlight, you aren't limited to one role. If you want to try acting, help with costumes one week, learn about lighting the next, or have a go at directing, you're encouraged to get involved
Semester 1 Rehearsal Date: Every Tuesday at 18:30-21:30
Location: EE1107
