About Us

The University of Worcester is one of the first universities that developed a wheelchair basketball team and we won gold at the inaugural National Championships in 2014 and again in 2016. In 2019 we brought home the silver medal. Wheelchair Basketball is not just for people with disabilities but for anyone who wants to play a physical sport that is extremely enjoyable to play. We as a team welcome anyone who wants to play this amazing sport.

As well as competing in BUCS for the first time ever, the University of Worcester has been selected as one of four universities to become part of a new women’s premier league for British Wheelchair Basketball. The League will be the first of its kind for women’s wheelchair basketball in the world, and the very first professional para-sport league in the UK.

The University of Worcester will be one of four High-Performance Partnerships, which also include Cardiff Metropolitan University, Loughborough University, and the University of East London, which will each be home to a women’s premier league team.
