Throughout June, we will be celebrating Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller History Month (GTRHM) at the Students’ Union and University of Worcester.
GTRHM is an opportunity for us all to celebrate Romany, Gypsy, Irish Traveller, Roma, and nomadic communities, histories, and cultures. Throughout GRTHM, we want to raise awareness of the barriers and issues that affect these communities, as well as ensure the SU, University, and wider community is welcoming for Gypsy, Roma, and Traveller people.
We are proud to be an inclusive institution, that provides a welcoming and supportive environment for our students to thrive, and we’re working hard to make sure GRTSB students feel welcome, supported, and empowered to thrive here.

At the end of GTRHM, we will be hosting a celebration event ‘A Kushti Divvus for Rokkering (A Good Day for Talking)’. The event will be a vibrant celebration of the rich histories, voices, and cultures of the Gypsy, Roma, Traveller, Showman, and Boater (GRTSB) communities, where we will enjoy an evening of conversation and connection to honour identity, tradition, and the power of sharing experiences.
Our celebration will be taking place on Monday 30th June, 4.30pm-6.30pm, in The Hangar, and everyone from the University and local community is invited to attend.
