What is the society all about?
Are you writing a novel? Short stories? Poetry?
Join the Creative Writing Society and share your work with likeminded students. Each week we create and read out pieces, often on an agreed topic and give positive criticism in the hope of making us all better writers.
We also hope to host talks from published writers and plan trips and events such as writing workshops and life-writing.
We encourage writers from all backgrounds, so if your degree or interests are not writing-based, we would love to help you create new ways of expressing yourself, and for you to influence others. Members have included those studying Computing, Journalism, Film Studies, Business and Law: no previous writing experience needed!
Our society will do its best to ensure that anybody who wants to participate can do so in a comfortable and easy-to-approach way, regardless of physical and mental condition or background.
If possible, our sessions will be held in a classroom accessible via wheelchair, and in every session, we’ll make sure that any other disability you may have is taken into account and the necessary support will be provided to you. All sessions will also be held online, including the ones held in-person, for those unable to attend due to a commute or otherwise.
The society will also make sure to acknowledge and spread awareness about the differences that unite us, with sessions for Black History Month, Pride, and any other events that highlight our diversity.
