About Us

The United Nations was created in 1945, aiming to maintain peace and security as well as to increase international cooperation. It is recognised as a leader of peace and human development. Our society is inspired by this organisation for students to develop their research skills, general knowledge about ongoing or historical conflicts, and their speaking ability. After a vote to determine a subject of debate, the participants will choose the country that they wish to represent for the debate. After the debate, we will all collaborate to try to draft a resolution. This resolution will be subject to a vote (pass or fail).

Our session will take place at the Hive, which is the university library. They will take place every week. The first week, we will vote on the topic and start the research together to encourage people to collaborate as well as to help those who might struggle with the research part. The second week is the debate, which gives a full week for the research.  On the SU page (a link will be provided at the end of the text), you will be able to join the society. The cost of joining the society is either £5 for the whole year or £3 per semester.

By getting this society started, we are hoping to get established to be recognised by the MUN-UK and to be able to compete with other universities.
