It’s officially Elections month, but that's not all that's happening this March... read on to find out more!

Our support for the DEC appeal

Here at Worcester, we are devastated to hear about the lives lost during the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. 17 million people have been affected by the earthquakes and many are in urgent need of shelter, food, and medical attention. In response to the Disaster Emergency Committee’s (DEC) appeal, we aim to support those in need in any way we can.

The launch of the Community Cupboard.

From this point onwards, the Students’ Union are officially accepting donations for our brand-new Community Cupboard.

Our statement on the UCU strikes

University staff across the UK who are members of the University and College Union (UCU) will be taking strike action throughout February and March. The Students’ Union stands in solidarity with the 70,000 staff across the UK who will be striking. We believe that staff working conditions have a direct impact on your learning experience, and that unsatisfactory working conditions and pay pose a threat to the long-term health of the higher education system.

Working towards race equality

Last year, following the death of George Floyd, we made a public commitment to be more transparent about the work we are doing on race equality – both within the SU and in our interactions with the University and the wider community.

Here are some of the steps we’ve taken which we promised to do a year ago, as well as the steps that we will be looking to take in the next academic year.

#BlackLivesMatter

You have most likely seen the recent media attention surrounding #Blacklivesmatter, following the murder of George Floyd. We understand that this may be a particularly challenging time for our black students. We wanted to highlight the support available during this time as well as outline our support for #Blacklivesmatter and anti-racism.
