Would you like to make a difference to students lives during their time at university? Are you interested in joining a collaborative, fast-paced team that prides itself on going the extra mile, delivering excellence, and supporting our students to make the most of their university experience?

We are looking for an energetic and organised individual to administer and organise the weekly programme of BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) fixtures, as well as other local league competitions.

You’ll be the first point of contact for BUCS Play support, fixture logistics, transport arrangements, and results reporting. You’ll also play a key role in organising major events including our annual Committee Training Programme, Welcome Fair, Varsity competition, and TeamWorc Awards.

Working closely with elected Full-time Officers, University colleagues, and coaches, you’ll help foster inclusive, positive, and active environments where students can thrive. You’ll support club committees with budgeting, governance, and health and safety, and help deliver training and resources to empower student leaders.

This role is ideal for someone with:

  • Good administrative skills and excellent organisational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, colleagues, and external partners
  • A background in sport or student activities
  • A proactive, empathetic, and flexible approach to problem-solving
  • A commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion

You will have the opportunity to develop your skills and abilities within a unique and dynamic environment, getting involved in a whole range of events and activities, whilst making a genuine difference to students at a formative time in their lives. This is a great time to be joining WSU as we work to deliver our strategic framework.

Note: This role includes regular out-of-hours working, particularly on BUCS Wednesdays, weekends, and during major events, for which additional pay is awarded.

We welcome applications from individuals regardless of their race, colour, ethnic or national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender reassignment, religious belief, age, marital status or disability, or any other individual characteristic or intersectionality of different characteristics.

We want to support a diverse and inclusive work environment as we believe it makes a team more effective and are actively looking for people who share our values. Find out more about our commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion.

We have a number of policies, procedures, and initiatives in place to support good practice around Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), to help provide a positive experience for our students, staff, partners, and key stakeholders.

We know that diverse candidates may be put off applying for jobs where they don’t meet 100% of the criteria outlined in the job description, but encourage anyone to apply who can demonstrate a variety of skills and experiences relevant to meeting the requirements of this role. If you would like to discuss any reasonable adjustments to the application process that may better facilitate your participation, please contact StudentunionHR@worc.ac.uk for an informal chat.
