Worcester Students’ Union (WSU) represents around 10,000 students (our members), studying at the University of Worcester and its partner institutions. We are a charitable organisation and our mission is ‘representing and supporting students to develop and achieve’.
A rare opportunity has arisen to work within our Finance office. We are seeking somebody with a finance or administration background that is quick to learn and wants to work in a fast-paced changing environment where you play a major part in the success of the organisation and the experience of the students.
As well as working with the Director of Finance and Commercial, you will line manage students who staff the Students’ Union Welcome Desk, ensuring they receive the support they need whilst on shift and gain key working skills during their time at the University.
Supporting a range of student clubs and societies, the role is not only dynamic but fun and very rewarding. The Union’s team is relatively small and so the opportunities to become involved in all aspects of our work are really varied.
You will want to live our values, possess a solid understanding of EDI principles, and have a desire to help students to achieve their potential. Your key areas of responsibility will be:
- Assist in the production of financial reports using SAGE50 cloud accounts, as well as Microsoft Office products.
- Inputting and reconciling accounts data, including sales and purchase invoices.
- Reconciliation of Petty Cash and Bank balances.
- Work with all student groups to monitor their income and expenditure and assist with finance related queries.
- Assist with the preparation of student payroll, including timesheet reviews.
- Work with the auditors during the year-end process and assist with regular stocktakes throughout the year within our bar.
- Supervise students employed to staff the Union’s Welcome Desk.
This is a great time to join the Union as we work to develop our new strategic plan for 2023 and beyond.
Worcester Students’ Union is committed to equality of opportunity for all. We welcome applications from individuals regardless of their race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, gender, marital status or disability status. We want to support diverse and inclusive work environments and are actively looking for people who share our values.
We very much look forward to hearing from you.
