NISCHAL THAPA

My name is Nischal Thapa, I am a second-year student studying bachelor’s in Business and Marketing. I am running for Vice President Student Activities as I always believe students could achieve a lot not just only by academic talents but also from their extra curriculum skills. Every student deserves a vibrant, fun and refreshing university experience that helps them thrive, make friends, reduce stress, and create memories that would last their lifetime.

University life should feel exciting and balanced. It’s not just about spending our days stuck in a repetitive cycle of lectures, assignments and feeling isolated and eventually burnout and I’ve always been passionate about changing that. Being a founding member of the Table Tennis Committee, I saw first-hand about how one small club can bring people together, spark joy, build confidence and create a real sense of community. That experience helped me realize the power of extra-curricular activities to improve student welfare and make university feel like home.

If elected as Vice President Student Activities, I am determined to put the fun along with personal development into student life and make sure students, no matter their background, course, or year has opportunities to get involved, feel refreshed, and enjoy their time at the University.

My main priorities are:

More vibrant and inclusive events: I will collaborate with clubs, societies, and the Students' Union team to deliver a packed calendar of activities like weekly socials, themed nights out, game tournaments, outdoor adventures, cultural celebrations and many more events that feels required. There will always be something to enjoy for everyone and both introverts or extroverts.

Create refreshing breaks from academic pressure: University mustn’t feel monotonous. I’ll champion regular, low-cost or free events like chill coffee mornings, stress-buster workshops with fun twists, spontaneous pop-up activities and end of the semester celebrations that give everyone something to look forward to which would be designed to help students unwind, laugh, move and connect.

Grow and support clubs and societies: I want to make it easier than ever to start and run a club. I’ll push for better funding, streamlined processes, more promotion, and dedicated support so new groups can be established and thrive. I’ll also work closely with the University’s sports staff to boost participation, fitness, and inclusion in TeamWorc Activities.

Make sure no one is left out: I am committed to represent all students; international students, commuting students, mature students, students from all background and those who’ve never joined anything before. I’ll run targeted campaigns to reach quieter voices and ensure every event are accessible, welcoming and inclusive.

I am approachable, energetic and genuinely willing to listen what students really want. I promise to be a visible, active and available Vice President Student Activities who turns idea into execution and puts student fun and welfare first. Together, we can make our University of Worcester a place where students feel refreshed, connected and excited not just surviving lectures but truly enjoying university life.
