OSAZUWA BOB-EGHAGHE

My name is Osazuwa Bob-Eghaghe( AKA President), an MRes student and I am proud to stand as a candidate for Students' Union President. I am stepping forward because I believe in leadership that listens, leadership that represents and leadership that delivers real and measurable results for students.

As a postgraduate researcher, I understand the academic pressure, financial responsibilities and personal challenges that students face daily. I understand what it means to balance deadlines, research demands, work commitments and personal wellbeing. Whether you are an undergraduate, postgraduate, international student, commuter, or mature student, you deserve a Union that works actively, transparently, and consistently for you.

YOUR VOICE

The Students’ Union must truly reflect the voices of its members. If elected, I will prioritise open communication, accountability and visibility. I will improve structured feedback systems and accessible drop-in sessions to ensure students have the opportunity to be heard. I will provide more frequent and clearer updates on actions being taken so you can see real progress, not just promises. Your ideas will directly shape our priorities and direction.

Academic Excellence and Opportunity

Academic success should be supported at every level. I will work closely with university leadership to advocate for fair assessment policies, timely and constructive feedback, and stronger communication between staff and students. I will champion improved academic support services, including peer mentoring programmes, study and research skills workshops and enhanced research support for postgraduate students. I will also push for increased career development opportunities, internships, employability training and networking events that prepare students for life beyond university.

Students' Wellbeing and Cost of Living

Students are facing rising living costs in accommodation, food and transportation, both for those living within Worcester and those commuting from outside town, even with student railcards and bus passes. We need practical and realistic solutions. I will campaign for greater awareness and easier access to hardship funds, more affordable food options on campus and improved financial guidance services.

Mental health and wellbeing must remain a priority. I will advocate for greater visibility of counselling services, reduced waiting times where possible, and proactive wellbeing initiatives that create safe and supportive spaces for students.

Inclusivity, Diversity and Belonging

Our university community is diverse and that diversity is our strength. I am committed to promoting equality, celebrating cultural differences and ensuring every student feels respected and represented. I will work closely with student networks, liberation groups, societies and sports clubs to ensure they have the resources and support they need to thrive.
