Hi there, I’m Lou, a mature student who is passionate about ensuring mature students are valued members of the student body, and I hope to create a welcoming and supportive culture for what I feel is an underrepresented group. The 'university experience' is what you make it, and I'd like to help mature students get the most out of their time here. I plan to achieve this as follows:

• I’m in the process of setting up the Mature Students Society, where mature students can meet, socialise, and find support
• I hope to introduce a Mature Student Mentor programme, where current students can offer support to first year students
• I would like to encourage some earlier start times for Student Union socials and arrange some events more suitable for mature students (cheese and wine night anyone?!)
• I hope to work with the University to design workshops that will support mature students, tackling subjects such as managing finances, family, and work
• I will organise weekly coffee mornings/afternoons for mature students to meet and socialise
• I aim to promote a mature student presence during University open days to offer guidance to prospective mature students and encourage new applications
• I would love to host child-friendly events for those students with children, such as a kids’ Christmas party!

Above all, I aim to ensure YOUR voice is heard, to support mature students in all ways possible, and to make University a memorable and unforgettable experience!
