Cheerleading

The ideal time to attempt new things is when you are in University. Joining a sports club is a great way of making new friends while stepping outside of your comfort zone!  Cheerleading is a challenging and exciting sport that mixes dance, tumbles, and stunts to create a fast paced, high-impact routine. Whether you have no experience, or have been cheerleading for a while, the Sinners are looking for people of all abilities and skill levels, to help us maintain the success of previous seasons.  

This year we are going to be bigger and better than any season before. With the great success of our first ever Pom team coming 1st in their first ever competition last year we will run both a POM TEAM (Sapphires) alongside our TWO CHEER COMPETITION TEAMS, there will be a Level 1 stunt team (Topaz) and a Level 2 stunt team (Royal).

We are so excited to be able to offer all 3 teams to our participants this year! Our training times will be Royals will train on a MONDAY 8:00-10:00pm, Topaz will train on a THURSDAY 8:00-10:00pm and Sapphires will be held on a TUESDAY 8:00-10:00pm. Any chnages to days and times will be posted on our Instagram and Facebook, so make sure to follow us on there for any updates. We will be hosting ‘give it a go’ sessions during the start of Semester 1, so come along to try it out for yourself.

In stunt training, the beginning of our season will consist of the whole group training together, where the focus will be on the basics such as jumps, dance and stunt techniques. When we can hold try outs, those who wish to attend and trial either competition teams will be able to do so. After this, those successful will be training several times a week in order to create a highly skilled, fast paced routine ready for competitions all around the UK!
For those who have the time and would like to, you are able to join both Pom and Stunt teams!

If the sport doesn’t seem right for you, then join us as a social member! Socials are a great way to socialise and create friendships with others. Socials are held every Wednesday at our local club Tramps where we hire a room for the whole of the Cheerleading society. These are fancy dress socials that are planned and led by our wonderful Social Secretaries. As well as these socials, we like to hold sober socials in which we go bowling, go out for a meal or go to the cinema. You do not have to be part of the team to come to socials, invite your friends and flatmates and bring them along! Memberships for socials can be purchased all year round so it’s never too late to join!

Our social media accounts will be updated more frequently than ever this year! Instagram and Facebook are the best social media platforms to find any updates regarding cheer (@worcsinners). A significant improvement will be made on both our Instagram, Facebook and TikTok, where we will aim to post weekly updates of training through fun and exciting photos and reels. This year we are really trying to enhance and sharpen our inclusivity statement and focusing on becoming more inclusive as a sports team. From previous years we have arranged and took part in allyship workshops with BAME and LGBTQ+ Networks to encourage and enforce inclusivity throughout the club as well as previously took part in the #NeverOk campaign created by the SU. This year we would love to continue to work with student groups to become more inclusive than ever before. With help from our amazing Vice Chair Inclusivity and Promotion and behalf of the rest of the committee an inclusivity statement has been created (see below):
