SK8

Who are we?

We are the SK8 society. We are a group of skateboarding enthusiasts who want to learn to skate together and be part of the wider skateboarding culture. To join this society you don't need to be Tony Hawk or Rodney Mullen you can just be you. It does not matter if you have been skateboarding since you were 5 or have never been on a board in your life. The beauty of Skateboarding culture is the community. It does not matter how old you are, where you're from, what gender you are nor what you believe in. Skateboarding culture is all about putting that aside and helping one another learn how to ride a piece of wood with wheels on it. You will meet people who generally you wouldn't imagine hanging out together doing skateboarding together and creating a bond through skateboarding. As I previously mentioned we are a skateboarding society however you can be a rollerblader, scooter user or a bmx’er and will still be part of this society since the culture of skating applies to all of those.

How will things work within society ?

We will meet twice a week. Once at a skatepark ( Oldbury skatepark or Perdiswell skatepark) and on the other day we will do some street skating/cruising around. If you can't make it to one of the designated sk8 days you can always reach out in the chat and most likely someone will be able to join you for a sk8 session.

Equipment

When it comes to equipment for now we would strongly urge you to get your hands on a deck for yourselves online or at a skate shop. We have a couple spare boards but not a lot. Same goes for helmets and protective gear. The reason being is we are a new society so as time goes on there is a good chance of us getting more equipment. If you have any questions or concerns about equipment feel free to reach out to any of the committee members below.
