Over the past few weeks it has been an amazing yet daunting experience settling into the role as a full-time officer.
Taking you back to the last day of our induction we were thrown into the ‘Day in a Life of an Officer’. This day basically put us to the test with scenarios and tasks that we would face in everyday life as an Officer. There was a whole range of tasks throughout the day from enquiries about welcome week to angry students, it was a great experience whilst being a little bit scary!
Since then, Euan and I have worked at our first Open day and what an exciting day that was! It was amazing to get to meet so many wonderful and aspiring students, I hope to see as many as you as possible in September!
Finally, I have been on a few conferences this week. The first being an Introduction to BUCS, this was a great insight to the BUCS conference and getting to understand exactly how it works. Followed by a two day conference at the NEC for NUS SU17, this consisted of a variety of workshops and keynote speakers topped off with the most wonderful 3 course meal (not bad). I am due to go on a few more conferences within the next few week and I am excited to keep learning as much as possible before meeting everyone in the next few months.
