What’s On

Everything going on in the SU and at The Hangar, from colour runs to karaoke and everything in-between

Welcome Week 2020 is almost here and we're planning a full lineup of great events for you to enjoy!

It might not be the kind of Welcome Week you’d usually see, but we’ll be putting on various events and activities to make sure all of our new and returning students have the best possible experience to kick-off the academic year. We'll be kicking things off on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th September with a big Welcome Weekend event at City Campus. And they'll be lots going on throughout the week, in person and online, for you all to get involved with.

Visit our events page for a full list of everything we've got coming up over the next few weeks.

Welcome Weekend

Welcome Weekend is on 12th and 13th September and we'll be at City Campus to welcome all of our new and returning students to the University. This year, our Clubs and Societies Fair is taking place over Welcome Weekend, giving you the opportunity to meet all of our amazing clubs and societies and find out how you can get involved with #TeamWorc.

We're also going to have live music throughout the weekend, some great food stalls, pop-up bars courtesy of The Hangar, and the traditional free pizza from Domino's.

**IMPORTANT UPDATE AROUND THE CLUBS & SOCIETIES FAIR**

Due to Covid-19, and social distancing and capacity guidelines in place, we are asking all students to pre-book their attendance at the Fair.

Please visit bit.ly/WelcomeWeekend2020 to book your timeslot.

This event is completely free of charge.

A limited number of walk-ins will be allowed, but entry will not be guaranteed to those without a booking.

Your student ID or student number will be needed for you to gain entry to this event.

Track and trace will be in operation, please download the DOORSentinels App before arrival and scan the QR codes at the venue.

WE RECOMMEND THAT EVERYONE ATTENDING THE CLUBS AND SOCIETIES FAIR WEARS A FACE COVERING. YOU WILL NOT BE REQUIRED TO WEAR A MASK AT THE BAR OR AT FOOD STALLS.

YOUR STUDENT ID OR STUDENT NUMBER WILL BE NEEDED FOR YOU TO GAIN ENTRY TO THIS EVENT.

The Hangar

If you don't already know, The Hangar is your student bar on campus. While we won't be able to bring you some of the epic big nights we have done in the past (don't worry, we're saving those for Refreshers), we've still got some pretty cool things planned.

Not only will The Hangar be open, but we've got marquees and pop-up bars down at City Campus throughout the week. And across both campuses we'll be putting on various events such as Raise and Golf, The Big Quiz, 2-4-1 on cocktails, and live music.

To book a space in The Hangar, just get in touch via 07729 235214 with your name, date and time you'd like to book, number of people, and any special requirements.

Check out The Hangar on Facebook for all the latest news.

Virtual Events

We know not everyone will be able to attend our events in person and we don't want any of you to feel left out. This year, we're going to be putting on a number of online events and activities to make sure as many of you as possible can get involved in the TeamWorc community.

Welcome to Worcester

We've not been able to bring you a full Welcome Fair this year, but we're bringing you the next best thing. Our Welcome to Worcester website is a year-long online Welcome Fair, with (almost) everything you could expect to find at our normal Fair. You can find out all about the SU, key University services, volunteering opportunities, and all the best local businesses in Worcestershire. And keep coming back throughout the year, as we'll be adding more content on a regular basis.

Visit www.welcometoworcester.net to check it out.

See you soon!

We might not be bringing you big club nights (and the hangovers that go with them), but we're pretty confident we'll be giving you a great start to the year, and doing it in a safe and socially responsible way. And don't forget that the most important part of Welcome Week is getting to know your new home, discovering new and exciting opportunities, and meeting those friends that will stay with you for life. We can't wait to see you all this September!

Follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for regular Welcome Week updates and everything else we've got going on this year.

And make sure you're signed up to the official Worcester Students 2020-21 group on Facebook for all the latest news.
