Pole Fitness

Welcome to the University of Worcester's Pole Fitness Society! 

We are a student-led unisex society with a key focus on the inclusivity and empowerment of our members. We are keen to reinvent the image of Pole Fitness and encourage members of the University community to try a new sport - many of our members had never tried Pole Fitness before coming to university so there's no need to worry if you've never done anything like this before, you'll soon be quite literally flying!

Pole fitness is a sport based on the foundations of yoga, gymnastics and dance, so it's a great sport to try if you want to improve your overall fitness in multiple areas. Pole is great for building your upper body strength, core strength, flexibility and elegance. Moves are taught by our professional instructor from a syllabus, developed and combined to form routines that are all different in difficulty levels (bronze, silver, gold, etc.) You'll be able to learn at your own pace and progress through our awards if you choose to do so accordingly. As a society we are looking to compete in Inter-University competitions and make the Universities name known within the field, however, it is completely optional to participate and we only want you to do what you're comfortable with, there's no pressure at all!

We are a growing community and provide our members with another social group outside of their courses and halls, it's a great way to meet more people across the University community. Every Wednesday is sports and societies social night, they are themed evenings where all societies get dressed up in fun outfits and go out in Worcester together. If you cannot attend the actual Pole lessons, don't feel ready to get on the Pole just yet or are looking for a slightly cheaper option, you are able to just purchase a social membership which allows you to come to all our social events and Worcester student nights. It is a great way to meet a new social group of people. 

Training times:

Pole Sessions: Full members only

Monday 1:00pm - 2:00pm @ Pole Effect Studio 

Wednesday 10am - 11am @ Pole Effect Studio 

Fitness Session: Full members only 

Tuesday 6:00pm - 8:00pm @ The Arena 

Fitness sessions have different weekly focuses these include - Zumba, Yoga, Core, HIIT, Flexibility. We also have our own set of Poles that we get out during allocated fitness sessions for you to practice in addition to our instructor led classes at Pole Effect Studio. Each session will vary and we highly encourage all those who have full memberships to come.

Worcester Socials: All members welcome

On Wednesdays, our Social Secs choose a fancy dress theme and we all get dressed up and go and enjoy the student night together. We play lots of games, have lots of laughs and you don't have to drink if you don't want to.
