This team event saw 3 university of Worcester fencers fence 3 university of Birmingham fencers, first to 45 points in all 3 weapons. The friendly started with epee which saw, Maarja, Yassena and Vilma face 3 Birmingham uni fencers. They took an early lead which was maintained throughout the match once again. This was a closer match than against Bristol however we still managed a significant win of 45-33. This was a flying start to the evening.
Next we moved onto foil that saw Sophie, Yassena and Vilma face 3 Birmingham uni fencers. Worcester didn’t have the best start to the match and spent most of the match trying to catch Birmingham up. Our luck turned when Vilma managed to make up 13 points to take Worcester into the lead 40-38 with the final 5 points still to play for. Unfortunately Sophie was to face a foilist for the last fight which is not her specialist weapon. After a tough final match Birmingham uni beat Worcester uni 45-43.
It would be all down to the sabre, however due to time we were unable to undertake the sabre match so Worcester uni took the win on points.
