Points on the board at last for Worcester as they triumphed in the inaugural Dance Varsity event in front of a large and supportive crowd at the University Sports Hall. Match 5: Badminton: Uni of Worcester 1 - 6 Uni of Gloucestershire
Match report From The Voice Student Newspaper; This event was played out professionally by both teams, involving singles, doubles and mixed doubles games. The standard of play was excellent throughout and neither team were outclassed. Although the results on the whole didn't go the way of Worcester, the ability of all members was never in doubt. The marathon game between Worcester's Anton Kadura and Gloucestershire's Ben Spavins was impressive with Kadura showing real determination to come through with a win for Worcester. Holly Sherington faced fierce competition from her counterpart, Gloucestershire's Gemma Bayntum and was unfortunately undone with clever drop shots at the net... It is safe to say the final score was somewhat unjust.

With an electric start from Liam Hughes Worcester raced to 44 off just four overs before both Liam and brother Alex Hughes were dismissed quickly after. There was a steady recovery from the two old heads in the team, Joel Tratt and Dan Martin, before this pair again was dismissed in quick succession. The innings overall was a very stop start affair with Worcester eventually finishing on 207 all out. Gloucestershire lost their first wicket on the very first ball as Sean McKee, bowling his first ball of University cricket, loked to set the tone for the inning. But Gloucestershire fought back and left themselves needing 36 from the final four overs with two wickets in hand. Unfortunately for Worcester a couple of lusty blows from the Gloucestershire tail got them over the line with just one ball to spare, devastating the Worcester team and supporters.
