► Training Workshops

Workshops

There will be three training workshops that you will be expected to attend as a Student Academic Rep.

The training will focus on the skills you will need to be a StAR and the challenges you may face when you are a StAR. You will get the chance to acquire skills that will help you impress future employers, such as decision-making, team work, communication, organisational skills and meeting/committee skills.

By completing the training sessions, you will be able to show employers that you have engaged in training for these vital skills which will be essential in carrying out your role as a StAR effectively.

You will be asked to sign up to one of three time-slots for each training workshop, so look out for them, as they may fill up very quickly!

Find out when the training sessions are and book onto a session here.

Introduction Training Workshop

This Workshop will introduce you to being a StAR, the skills that are needed, and how to carry out your role effectively. We will also run through some of the University structures, which will help you all know who to talk to for different types of student issues.

Refreshers Workshop

The Refreshers Workshop will focus on communication. Communication is key to this role and learning how to communicate with different types of people will allow you to be a very effective StAR.

Reflection Workshop

The focus of this workshop is to reflect on the experiences you have had as a StAR, work as a team to find the best solution and work out how you can apply what you have learnt to a situation you may have in the future. This workshop is essential if you want to develop your team-work skills and learn from good practice in other institutes.
