Worcester is a vibrant University City with a range of cultural, historic and sporting events happening all year round.

This page has some ideas for activities and events you might like to get involved with during Freshers' Week and beyond.

Please note these events aren't provided by the Students' Union and we advise you to contact the venues directly for more information.

Cathedral Tower, Worcester

Climb 235 steps to the top of the tower and on a clear day see the spectacular views over the city centre, river severn, county cricket ground, Pitchcroft racecourse, Malvern Hills and countryside beyond.

When: Open Saturdays 11 - 5 pm (last entry at 4.30 pm)

Worcester River Cruises

Enjoy a relaxing 45 minute cruise aboard The Earl departing from South Quay.
Take in the stunning views of the River Severn and the historic City of Worcester.
Built in 1926 as a launch, The Earl is recognised as one of Britain's historic vessels.
Sailing on various dates from April to September.

When: 11.00am*, 12.00pm, 1.00pm, 2.00pm, 3.00pm 4.00pm and 5.00pm*

Swan Theatre & Huntingdon Hall

There's lots on at both the Huntingdon Hall and Swan Theatre over Freshers' and beyond. See the Worcester Live! website for all the listings.

During Freshers' Week why not try Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? at the Swan?

Worcester Racecourse

Why not go along to the final event of the season for a National Hunt race, the course is only a 15 minute walk from St John's campus and even closer from the City campus.

When: Afternoon of Friday 28th September

Cost: Centre Course Enclosure admission £7.00 per adult
County Enclosure admission £16.00 per adult

Worcester Warriors

Do you fancy some top flight Rugby? Why not see the Warriors at home at Sixways in an Aviva Premiership match against London Irish.

When: 8 pm, Friday 28th September
