Hi there folks,
I hope you’re all settling into, or back into, university life here at Worcester. The summer has been so quiet here in the Students’ Union and I was so excited for Freshers’ Week to commence and campus to be buzzing again!
I hope you all enjoyed Freshers’ week, if you’re a first year check out our Questionnaire as we’d love to hear your feedback about the week, plus you could win £100! (Insert link here)
Now that the semester is in full swing I thought I’d let you know what the Students’ Union has got going on, and what I’ll be up to in the next few weeks. If you’re based down at the City Campus you’ll be pleased to hear that every Monday lunchtime between 12 and 2 one of the Sabbatical Officers and Kate Gynn (our Student Advisor) will be down there, so come and have a chat with us if you can’t make it up to St John’s campus.
I’ve been getting myself organised with the StARs (student academic reps) for the year. This year we have a StAR election fortnight, so if the StARs on your course haven’t been elected yet, this is the time to do it! Nominate yourself and you’ll have a great experience influencing your course and being the voice of students. I’ve started planning training sessions for all the new (and returning) StARs, details will be announced soon when we have a full list of StARs from each course.
This year you’ll also see myself and the other Sabbs out and about GOATing, also known as ‘going out and talking.’ We’ll be around every week with a different topic so come and have a chat with us! Sadly…we will not be bringing a goat around with us but hopefully you’ll still recognise who we are.
I also found out today that I’m off to Edinburgh in a couple of weeks to learn about Student-led teaching awards…watch this space for more details when I’m back!
Anyhoo, enjoy your lectures and pop into to see us Sabbs anytime, we’ve got some photos of Freshers week up by our office so come and take a look at them.
Hopefully see some of you soon!
