Worcester Cardinals @ BNU Buccaneers
The 2008 Season was Worcester University American Football's inaugural year and the team were know as the Worcester Cardinals. After months of recruiting, training and communication with other teams, the Cardinals travelled to Bucks New University to play their well established Buccaneers team.
After a grueling journey The team arrived and found themselves in a run down changing room and club house with a 200 yard walk to the pitch. This however didn't deter them from their task and in front of BNU coaches, BUAFL officials and a small crowd the Cardinals kicked of the game.
The accolade of the first every touchdown went to Wide Receiver Pete Baker after he safely caught a pass from Quarterback Mike Burnage. The Buccaneers put up a stern defense though and also provided some trouble on offense to which the Cardinals delt with accordingly. The final score was Worcester 40-30 Buccaneers, and on the journey home Chairman at the time, Jon Goddard received a message from BUAFL Director Andy Fuller inviting them to take part in full season the following year.
