The British University American Football League
Established in 2007, the British Universities American Football League is the largest University competition for American football in Europe. The League has six conferences spanning Great Britain and 2011 will see a record 60 teams starting the season. Teams play an eight game regular season with the number one ranked team in each conference being crowned champions and the top two teams progressing through to the post season and a shot at the National Championship. The third and fourth placed teams also progress to the post season in the National Challenge Trophy competition.
The Royals have now competed in 2 season of BUAFL football and are now an established team in the Midlands Athletic Conference as well as featuring in the Universities Varsity event which pits sports teams from both Worcester and Gloucester University against each other with pride at stake.
The fixture list for the 2011 season was released on the BUAFL Facebook page and has thrown up so interesting fixtures for The Royals. Home game's against Northampton Nemesis (20th November), Reading Knights (27th November), NTU Renegades (19th February) & Staffordshire Stallions (26th February) and Away game's @ Bath Spa Bulldogs (12th February), DMU Leicester Falcons (6th November), Lincoln Colonials (4th December) and against local rivals Gloucester Gladiators (4th February.)
The Royals play there home games at Stephenson Terrace, however park is extremely limited therefore anyone coming watch is asked to use the pay and display car park next to the Swann Theatre and walk down the racecourse or The Moors (road leading to the field.)
